Course Description
This introductory course explores the philosophy and ritual practice of Vedic Chaplaincy The 16 major life-cycle rituals (Ṣoḍaśa Sanskāras) are examined from the perspective of personal development, ethical grounding, social responsibility, and spiritual upliftment. The course prepares students for foundational engagement with dharmic guidance and community well-being in modern settings.

Learning Outcome
This Chaplaincy course equips learners with a comprehensive understanding of Hindu life, ethics, and pastoral practices by introducing key concepts such as Dharma, Puruṣārthas, and the Āśrama system within the broader context of Hindu Studies. Students gain practical knowledge of conducting rituals like Havana, Agnihotra, and Yajña, along with a deep understanding of Sanskāras—their meaning, scriptural basis, and role in human life from birth to death. By studying prenatal, post-natal, educational, marriage, and final rites (Antyeṣṭi), learners develop the ability to support individuals and families through important life transitions with cultural sensitivity and ethical awareness. Overall, the course prepares students to serve as informed and compassionate chaplains, capable of guiding others through spiritual, social, and life-cycle events in a meaningful and responsible way.
