Abstract

The Indian Knowledge Tradition represents a continuous intellectual and cultural heritage, with Dharmashastra as a key normative framework. This paper examines the contributions of Acharya Kishore Chandra Mahapatra to this tradition. Focusing on his major works, including Chayanapradipa, Dayabhaga Samiksha, and Dharmashastra Sandarbha, the study highlights his role in interpreting complex Dharmashastric concepts through a systematic and accessible approach. His engagement with Mimamsa and logical reasoning strengthened traditional exegesis while enhancing its contemporary relevance. Additionally, his emphasis on ethical values and translation of classical texts contributed to the wider dissemination of knowledge. The paper concludes that Mahapatra’s scholarship effectively bridges classical tradition and modern intellectual needs.
